When you hold a Spyderco knife in your hand you know you are holding quality. It is backed by more than 30 years of research and development to find the right steels and handle materials. The Spyderco knife has been ergonomically designed to open easily and fit comfortably in the hand while cutting. And it will hang out in your pocket until you need it.
Almost all Spyderco folding models feature the thumb hole pull for easy, one handed opening. Most have a pocket/belt clip for convenient carrying.
In reality, knives made specifically for hunting get used for cutting much more than just what you bag. It holds equally true that generic outdoor knives often find their way into the hands of the hunter field-dressing their success. The Ocelot seamlessly covers both bases crossing from sport to field and back. The blade’s drop-point tip is thick at the end and its curved full-belly makes short work of both hunting and field chores. It’s constructed with cobalt enriched VG-10 that stays sharper longer in the field where sharpness matters most. Various spots on the hollow-ground blade are textured: At the base of the spine, along the finger choil area and again behind the Spyderco Round Hole. This texturing offers tactical resistance when in contact with the thumb or index finger optimizing grip and providing slip resistance when cutting and caping. The ergonomic G-10 handle is machined with paw prints (pugs) housing full steel liners inside. An ambidextrous tip-up or tip-down clip offers multiple carry options. Centered mid-spine, a back lock features a David Boye dent, minimizing the opportunity to inadvertently release the lock while forcefully gripping the knife. A thong or lanyard can be strung through the steel lined lanyard hole for backup attachment when using the knife in water or brush.

Spyderco Knives - a manufacturer of quality, reliable high performance knives and sharpeners designed for superior function and ergonomic comfort.
Located in Golden, Colorado, Spyderco was founded in 1978 by Sal Glaser. Spyderco initially began it's life as a knife sharpener manufacturer but has since broadened it's offering to include knives and multi-tools and is the holder of dozens of patents.
Spyderco knives are respected for their simplicity, reliability, good ergonomics and lack of preoccupation with aesthetics. Spyderco are popular with many markets including law enforcement officers, fire and rescue personnel, and private citizens.
Since starting Spyderco have been told their knives are different, peculiar, even out there. All true. Thinking beyond established knife industry barriers allowed Spyderco to introduce new and radical innovations to the knife culture including: patented one-hand opening, serrations on a folder and a clip to attach a knife to a pocket.
Spyderco is definitely out of the norm in the knife industry in their dedication to researching and developing fresh, improved and better performing materials all with function and reliability being key. Someone once said to Sal Glesser, Spydercos owner, You must design in the dark because your knives look so strange. True again. Spyderco Knives and Tools recognisable appearance is a result of designing ergonomic functional tools rather than applying lipstick and nylons to a pocketknife. Spyderco may look curious, homely, whatever, but they will never be called unusable or undependable. Making knives that consistently deliver reliable high-performance requires an ongoing commitment to testing.
In their million-dollar testing facility Spyderco examine edge retention with a CATRA machine, look for rust development with Q-FOG, check the force needed to open and close a knife. They also repeatedly test for stress, wear, optimal heat-treating and actively search for higher quality, performance enhancing steels and materials. As a customer you probably dont think about this, or much care, but it allows Spyderco to put forth a promise. When you purchase a Spyderco you are buying a high-quality reliable cutting tool designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort. Those Who Know Carry Spyderco.
